Storms

I was driving through a storm tonight. Crazy lighting and heavy rain. I wanted to be home under the security of calm surroundings but that wasn’t on my to do list that had me out driving in the storm. I’ve driven through enough of them that I know if I focus on where I’m heading and keep going, verses focusing on the storm I’m in, I’ll arrive safely to my destination.

The enemy wants us to focus on the storm because if we are focused on the storm, or the problem, then we won't be able to remember the promise and the provision of our destination. Storms are coming… they are part of life. Isaiah didn’t say “if the storms come”…. He said “when the storms come”!

When lightning flashes across the sky and thunder rumbles in the distance, stop and remember that this isn't the first storm you have ever faced, and it probably won't be the last. In the most challenging times, the Father's love can often be felt, for his power is made perfect in our weakness.

I love the story of the disciples freaking out from the storm while Jesus slept in the boat. They all felt like they would drown and perish in the sea. Jesus slept because he knew WHO HIS FATHER WAS! When he needed to, Jesus stood up, rebuked the winds and the waves, spoke peace to the storm, and it ceased.

He will do the same for you. Know that Jesus is with you in the rain and HE STILL REIGNS! don’t focus on the storm, remind yourself of the promise and provision on the other side of it!!
